Skitour - Mehlsack - 2651 m

Charakter:

The Mehlsack is one of the most visited mountains in the Arlberg region, which is even popular for skiers, who are not really in good physical shape. Most of all since it is easily reached by helicopter. Nevertheless, the Mehlsack remains a very rewarding mountain to practice ski touring with an awesome downhill run.

Talort/Ausgangspunkt:

Lech

Aufstieg:

1100 Hm

Beschreibung:

Ascent: There are three different ways to reach the summit of the Mehlsack,
the most comfortable and frequently used being by helicopter. But when there is no helicopter service, on weekends and in late spring, the other two ways are very attractive as well.

The ascent over the northern slope with 1100 meters (3608 ft) difference in altitude is rather something for sporty touring skiers. You take the bus headed for Zug and get off at the last bus stop. At the Mautstelle Zug it's time to put on the ski skins. Follow the cross-country course until you get to the sawmill. From here on you turn right and start ascending the northern slope by kickturns. At the end of the northern slope you take a big left-hand bend across a saddle, where the terrain slope decreases until you finally reach the summit.

The ascent over the Stierlochjoch is considerably longer in distance, but can be shortened by using the Madloch lift and running through the Roggalmulde. From the Zugerberg lift valley station a long-distance hiking trail leads straight down to the Stierlochbach valley (Bach: german word for creek). Follow the trail until you get to the Stierlochalpe (which, however, might be covered completely by snow – Alpe: german word for mountain pasture), from this point on keep a little to the left and the way will take you steeper uphill, until you reach the Stierlochjoch (Joch: german word for pass). Now, you move to the northwest on the very steep slopes of the lower Spullerschafberg towards a saddle, where you turn right, cross the northern slope of the Spullerschafberg and tackle the last ascent to the summit.

One of the most beautiful Skitours in Vorarlberg. Hiking in the sun and downhill northface in perfect Powder.
Vielleicht die schönste Skitour in Vorarlberg mit einer grandiosen Abfahrt in einer landschaftlich kaum zu übertreffenden Bergwelt. Der Nordhang der Drei Türme mit einer Höhendifferenz von 1100...
The Wösterspitze is very liked by Freeriders. It´s a short ascent with a very nice downhill run.
